March 3rd – Server Updating Between 4:00 – 7:00 AM EST (UTC -5)

In order to keep pace with Membee’s growth, the servers that store your member data are getting a major upgrade this weekend on Saturday, Mar. 03, 2018. Here is how the upgrade will unfold:

  • Starting at 4:00 AM EST (UTC -5) full backups of your member data will be processed. Your member data and all Membee services will be available during that time.
  • At around 4:30 AM EST (UTC -5), all Membee databases and services will be taken offline for partial backups (to grab any changes since the 4:00 AM backup) and restores will be processed to bring all databases up to date.  This should take about 2 hours.
  • The Membee databases will then be restored to the shiny new database servers.
  • By 7:00 AM EST (UTC -5), all Membee databases and services will be brought back up and available again to client organizations and members.

We are conservatively estimating the total downtime at 90 minutes. Some copies of Membee will come back online faster since they are earlier in the queue. No matter what all copies of Membee should be accessible by 7:00 AM EST (UTC -5).

We will be watching this like a hawk and have a series of tests set up to ensure everything is working properly.

Membee Service Issues for Some Users – Resolved

Hi Everyone,

As many of you are now aware there was intermittent disruption to Membee’s services for select users last week.

We are now confident that the problems have been completely resolved.

It was quite apparent that our intermittent speed issue was a result of having to create new connections from the Web Server to the SQl Server.

Membee’s development team has implemented a setting that sets the minimum number of distinct connections per client to be 1.  So, at the very least, there will be one cached connection to the database at all times.  The cache is cleared nightly, so the first person in daily might see a delay when logging in, but the rest of the day should be quick.
