Membee’s Help Desk is Unavailable

Hi Everyone,

At the present time, Membee’s Help Desk is unavailable to Membee users. While Membee’s functionality remains at 100% available, Membee users are currently unable to access Membee’s “Help From the Hive” knowledge base, chat with our staff via online chat, or submit a support question. Membee’s Help Desk provider is ZenDesk and posted the following:

“We (Zendesk) have received confirmation from our service provider that several of their customers including us are subject to a DDoS attack.”

What this means is that the Internet provider connecting Zendesk to the Internet is under attack from Distributed Denial of Service attack which is preventing access to online services like ZenDesk. We’re sure this is being addressed as quickly as possible but in the meantime, please contact us directly at 800.729.2962.405 if you have a Membee question or issue you need our assistance with.

We’ll post an update once more news from Zendesk is available.

Thanks,

The Membee Support Team

Membee’s Help Desk Back to Normal

Hi Everyone,

About an hour ago, ZenDesk reported that they had resolved the issue. We submitted some test questions from Membee’s Help Desk and everthing seems fine. As it turns out, it seems that tickets were being saved and the issue was with email notification of the arrival of new tickets. Any backlog of notification emails either to the Membee support team or back out to users has also been cleared.

So, it’s green lights everywhere!

So sorry for any inconvenience.

Membee’s Help Desk Acting Up

Hi Everyone,

Membee’s Help Desk provider, ZenDesk has run into a bit of an intermittent hardware issue that they are currently working on. As a result, there is a chance that when you enter a question in Membee’s Help Desk, you may receive an “Oops! Something went wrong” error message when you go to save it.

If you encounter the error, just send your question to “emergency@membee.com” and we’ll take it from there.

We’ll post an update once ZenDesk has something tangible to report.

Security Certificate Error for Some Users When Logging In

Good Morning,

Some users who are accessing Membee using the old login method may encounter an error talking about a problem with the website’s security certificate. We’ve contacted our security certificate provider GEOTrust and a new certificate is being generated. We’ll install it as soon as we get it in the next few minutes.

Sorry for the inconvenience! We’ll update you as soon as there is tangible news.

Server Patches to be Applied Sunday October 1

The data center will be applying routine patches to Membee’s servers at some point between 2 AM and 8 AM Eastern Daylight Time (UTC -5) on Sunday October 1, 2011. At some point during that maintenance window, Membee will be offline for about 5 minutes or so while the servers reboot after their patches have been applied. As usual, we’ll be on top of this to make sure that everything comes back to life properly.

Sleeping in on Sunday is so overrated. 🙂

Some More Server-Side Updates Happening on 06.24.11

Hi All,

There are some “new and improved” versions to the underlying frameworks that Membee uses which we’ve been testing in Membee’s test environment and we’re anxious to roll them out on the production servers. These new versions will provide a few minor performance improvements in Membee right away but what really excites us are new capabilities they bring that we’re putting to work in new features which are currently under development.

The changes will happen transparently throughout the day on Friday June 24, 2011 between 8 AM and 4 PM Eastern Daylight Time (UTC -4) and when they are in place, we need to change one setting in your organization’s settings which may have Membee’s outward facing features (events, directories, member profile, etc.) unavailable to a visitor to your site for 10-15 seconds. During that 10-15 seconds, your site visitor might get a “503 Service Unavailable” status message from their browser. The chances are really, really slim that they will encounter this message.

Both the technical support and customer service teams are working on this so let us know immediately if you encounter anything unusual.

Thanks for helping us to grow the hive!

Minor Maintenance Window for Membee – 06.19.11

Hi Everyone,

We’re doing some core library and driver updates to the servers. The updates are required for some new features that will be uinveiled in Membee over the next couple of months. These updates will require the servers to be restarted and as a result we are establishing a maintenance window on Sunday, June 19 from 7 – 8 AM Eastern Daylight Time (UTC -4).

During this hour, access to Membee may be intermittent as the servers restart. As usual, we’ll do some testing to make sure Membee is happy when the restarts are completed.
